President Frank Yoke called the meeting via Zoom to order at 4:09 p.m. on April 28, 2026. Secretary Dora Dye recorded the minutes. In attendance were Gary Dales, Ann Daugherty, Dora Dye, Stephen Geisheker, Bob Hermann, Tim Hornbecker, Margaret Miley, Maureen O’Shea, Ozan Yasavur, and President Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Our guest was Sunny Singh. Absent were Stellie Kim, Wendy Shew, Hana Xu Wang, and Darlene Wilson.
Approval of Board Minutes
The Board approved with one abstention the March 24, 2026 meeting minutes.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Gary Dales presented the Balance Sheet, the outstanding dues to date, and the Statement of Operations through March 31, 2026 for the Rotary Club of San Francisco. President Frank is still pursuing all outstanding dues. The Board then approved with one abstention the April 2026 Treasurer’s Report as presented. .
1908 is an important year in Rotary history. The Rotary Club of San Francisco was born that year. After reading the newspaper announcement of the new Rotary Club of San Francisco, businessmen from east of the bay decided to meet to discuss establishing their own club. The day after Thanksgiving in 1908, Homer Wood, founder of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, took the ferry across the bay through the pouring rain to meet for lunch with Frank Bilger of an Oakland rock quarry and paving company, and 23 other businessmen at the Hotel Metropole in downtown Oakland. Both Clubs agreed to meet jointly each year thereafter. Following a hiatus, President Frank resumed this tradition on May 21, 2026. The Event began with a special reception at 11:30 AM at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts. During the luncheon, President Frank sat with the officers of the Rotary Club of Oakland. About 20 Rotarians from our Club attended. The speaker was USF Professor Stephen Zunes, who spoke on the war on Iran and examined the negative fiscal, humanitarian, diplomatic, strategic, and political consequences of this war.
President Joseph Goralka of the third oldest Rotary Club in the world and President Frank Yoke of the second oldest Rotary Club in the world exchanged Rotary flags.

Join us at this service opportunity to stuff diaper bags and organize diapers and wipes for giveaway to clients of the Homeless Prenatal Program. Event is limited to 6 people.
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1 PM. Registration is limited to two Rotarians at each shower,
Join us for our Club's NEXT EVENING MEETING where we will conduct some Club business, have dinner, and enjoy Rotary fellowship. Since this meeting will occur on the Juneteenth holiday, we will take a moment to reflect on and celebrate this occasion. There is no charge to attend this meeting, but each attendee pays individually for food and beverages ordered at MoMo's. Please register yourself and your guests so that we can plan the space. Note that this meeting is on Friday, June 19, 2026.
President Frank has led an exceptional year.
