LUNCHEON MEETING HIGHLIGHTS March 11, 2025: Kai Burrus and Current research on climate change, impacts, and solutions
President Bob Hermann, Jr. (Information Technology: Administration | Retired) called the meeting to order at 12:15 PM. He shared his headshots taken in 1993 and 2014. Oh, what a difference a few decades made to his hairline!

We welcomed Visiting Rotarian Ruth Wenzel from the Rotary Club of Mission San Jose. Our guests were Sam Silva and Luz Maria Soto. Our speaker was Dr. Kai Burrus. 
 
Robin Azevedo (Retail: Mattresses | Retired, McRoskey Mattress Company) introduced her childhood friend, Holly Huebel. Holly has visited our Club before today.
 
President Bob shared that former members of our Club — Carla and Erik Walter — visited him from Milledgeville, Georgia.

Baby Showers for Homeless Prenatal Program: March 19, 2025
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1 PM. Registration has closed. 
 
 
EVENING MEETING: March 20, 2025
Join us for our Club's NEXT EVENING MEETING where we will conduct some Club business, have dinner, and enjoy Rotary fellowship. There is no charge to attend this meeting, but each attendee pays individually for food and beverages ordered at MoMo's. Please register yourself and your guests so that we can plan the space.
 
 
LEARNING and LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT March 22, 2025: District Assembly and Project Fair
This annual assembly provides a great deal of training and planning for the Rotary Year that begins on July 1, 2025. All Club members are invited, and all Club leaders are strongly encouraged to attend. Come and cheer for Frank Yoke as he begins his year as our Club's President.
 
DEI EVENT March 25, 2025: Dinner to Break the Fast at Ramadan
Join us for an evening of cultural exchange, tradition, and Turkish hospitality as we come together for our second annual iftar dinner. This year’s iftar will showcase a traditional Turkish-style Ramadan dinner, highlighting the flavors and customs of Türkiye’s rich culinary and cultural heritage. This event is open to all Rotarians, visiting Rotarians, prospective members, and guests. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up now. 
 
ROTARY DEI FILM FESTIVAL March 30, 2025: Dongju — The Portrait of a Poet
Our March movie is Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet, a Korean film about Yun Dongju, one of the most beloved Korean poets. Through his life story, we will learn how many Korean scholars were treated during the Japanese colonization of Korea and experience their yearn for creativity, passion, and freedom. This event is open to Rotarians, their friends, and family. This film is not rated, but not recommended for young children due to the mature themes.
 
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON April 1, 2025: Rick Laubscher on Market Street and its historic street cars
Rick Laubscher, a fourth-generation San Franciscan, has won an Emmy as a reporter and led a successful career in public relations. However, it is his love for San Francisco's old streetcars that have led to his spending the last 42 years working to keep vintage streetcars and cable cars a working part of San Francisco’s transit system. Come and hear his memories.
 
 
 
Welcome to the Club for New and Prospective Members: April 3, 2025

Join us for our next New and Prospective Member event! We’ll begin with casual, social time followed by small group discussions about our Club's activities and any volunteer opportunities. Anyone with an interest in learning about Rotary is welcome to register. Current Club leaders are also encouraged to attend. We look forward to connecting with you!

ROTARY LUNCHEON April 8, 2025: Blue Bear School of Music
Dr. Steve Savage, Executive Director and President of the Board of Trustees at Blue Bear School of Music, introduces this school that has provided music education to our community for over 50 years. We will then be treated to a performance by talented students and staff.
 
 
 
SPECIAL DINNER April 15, 2025: Celebrating Passover
Members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco are invited to celebrate Passover with a traditional evening Seder at a private Jewish home in San Francisco. The Seder is a retelling of the story of how the Jews were liberated from slavery in ancient Egypt and a reminder of our obligation to build a better world for everyone. In other words, Service above Self. The dinner features fish, beef, and chicken and costs $45 per Rotarian. Because space is limited, this event is open only to Club members. No guests. The deadline to register is April 11, 2025.
 
 
SERVICE OPPORTUNITY April 16, 2025: Family House
Join Family House, a grant partner of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, for an opportunity to prep, cook, serve, and clean up an Italian dinner for their community. Volunteers will serve approximately 70 people, and Family House staff will be on site to provide support. Event is limited to 10 people, and Rotarians may bring a guest. All must register. Volunteers are encouraged to wear Rotary-branded attire that can get dirty, as well as layers to be prepared for multiple weather conditions. Dinners will be served outside on the Family House patio.
