President Bob Hermann, Jr. (Information Technology: Administration | Retired) called the meeting to order at 12:15 PM. He noted that today was the anniversary of the founding of our Club in 1908.

A dynamic, Saturday evening gala at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco on November 15, 2024 showcased the life-changing work of Rotaplast International, Inc. Rotaplast is a global organization providing medical care to children with cleft lip and/or palate, burn scarring, or other deformities. This organization initiated as a world community service project of the Rotary Club of San Francisco in 1992-1993. Ten Club members and their spouse attended the first mission in La Serena, Chile in January 1993. Included in this group were Angelo and Louise Capozzi, Kay Clarke, Peter and Elaine Lagarias, Charles and Sandra Massen, Jim and Jo Patrick, and Rosey Wong.
Rotaplast Co-Founders Dr. Angelo Capozzi, MD, and Peter Lagarias, Esq. reflected on the creation of Rotaplast, the many missions that they have been on (more than 90 missions for Angelo), and their ongoing commitment to the cause. Both met as Rotarians with the Rotary Club of San Francisco. Peter became past president of our Club and went on to become a Past District Governor of Rotary District 5150. Angelo is now a member of the Rotary Club of Tiburon/Belvedere. Joining Angelo and Peter were Executive Director Daniel DeSanto and Medical Team Coordinator Evelyn Abad. Both Daniel and Evelyn are also members of our Rotary Club; they shared updates on Rotaplast's current projects and how the organization has adapted in the post-pandemic world.
Recently, members and friends of the Rotary Club San Francisco volunteered at Family House. We had the privilege of spending time in a place that embodies true compassion. Family House provides complimentary housing, meals, and support to families with children receiving critical treatment at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. It is not just a place to stay; it is a sanctuary of care and stability for families.
In addition to a $5,000 grant from the San Francisco Rotary Foundation, we contributed volunteer hours by helping with cleaning, restocking, and serving dinner. Each task was a small part of creating a space where families can focus on being together.
Family House will also be the beneficiary of the Toy Drive for the Rotary Club of San Francisco’s Annual Holiday Party on December 17, 2024.
The Trustees of Rotary Service, Inc. met on October 29, 2024 via Zoom. President Bob Hermann called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM. Nancy Graydon, Secretary, recorded the minutes.
In attendance were Gary Dales, Stephen Geisheker, Tim Hornbecker, Bridget Mahoney, Maureen O’Shea, President Bob Hermann, Immediate Past President Sunny Singh, Nancy Graydon, Darlene Wilson, Ozan Yasavur, Christopher Wiseman, and President-Elect Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Absent were: Dan Davies, Margaret Miley, and Todd St Vrain. Our guests were JT Forbus and Executive Secretary Dora Dye.

It's time for one of our most popular service projects - Thanksgiving at The Arc San Francisco! In the spirit of giving thanks, Rotarians will gather to provide a Thanksgiving feast for participants at The Arc SF. Many hands are needed to either serve or be on the clean-up team; please sign up to help. This is the only Thanksgiving celebration for many of the people we serve that day. And they are most appreciative.

Join us at this service opportunity to stuff diaper bags and organize diapers and wipes for giveaway to clients of the Homeless Prenatal Program. Event is limited to 10 people.
Celebrate the season with us at a Cookie Making Workshop. Learn from expert Brennan Bowen how to craft the ultimate chocolate chip cookie. We will bake together on site, and each participant will take home a batch of delicious cookie dough. This event is open to all Club Members. Attendance is capped at 12 people, so register early!
GLIDE is a nationally recognized center for social justice with a mission to create a community to alleviate suffering and break the cycles of poverty and marginalization. Karl Robillard will talk about how the GLIDE Foundation has made a difference in the Tenderloin Community and beyond.
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1 PM. Registration is limited to two Rotarians at each shower.
Join us at the Westin St. Francis for this year’s Holiday Party and Annual Meeting. This is always the most festive and fun-filled luncheon of the year, so bring your family, friends, and business associates to celebrate with us!
Volunteer at the Catholic Charities Community Holiday Party to serve meals, celebrate the holidays, and spread cheer to clients from the Edith Witt Senior Community, the Maureen and Craig Resource Center, and the 10th and Mission Family Housing Program.
