Our Visiting Rotarians were Aruna Sharma from the Rotary Club of Shimla Hill Queens in India and Clifford Thomas, a former member of our Club and now with the Rotary Club of Beaufort in South Carolina. First Mother's Day
The United States just celebrated Mother's Day. Today, President Frank saluted all mothers and provided some history on the First Mother's Day in 1908.
In 1908, Homer Wood, founder of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, met with Frank Bilger of an Oakland rock quarry and paving company, and 23 other businessmen at the Hotel Metropole in downtown Oakland. From there, the Rotary Club of Oakland was born. On May 21, 2026, members and guests of the Rotary Club of San Francisco are invited to join the Rotary Club of Oakland at the Oakland Club's meeting. The speaker will be USF Professor Stephen Zunes, who will speak on the war on Iran. Prior to the meeting, there will be a special reception beginning at 11:30 AM to celebrate the Rotary Club of San Francisco (Club No. 2) and the Rotary Club of Oakland (Club No. 3). All are welcome.If you are attending, please let President Frank Yoke know by or before 3 PM on May 18, 2026.
On May 23, 2026, join Rotarians from District 5150 for an interactive workshop to inspire and reignite your Rotary service by introducing you to the concepts of positive peace and the many tools and resources available to build peaceful communities, neighborhoods, organizations and other environments where people can thrive.
Join us for our Club's NEXT EVENING MEETING where we will conduct some Club business, have dinner, and enjoy Rotary fellowship. There is no charge to attend this meeting, but each attendee pays individually for food and beverages ordered at MoMo's. Please register yourself and your guests so that we can plan the space.
KQED's morning radio news anchor Brian Watt joins us to discuss delivering the news and how this delivery may be 10 years from now. He joined the KQED News team in April 2016 and has won numerous awards for his work.

Join us at this service opportunity to stuff diaper bags and organize diapers and wipes for giveaway to clients of the Homeless Prenatal Program. Event is limited to 6 people.
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1 PM. Registration is limited to two Rotarians at each shower,
President Frank has led an exceptional year. To celebrate his outstanding leadership and contributions, we invite you to a special recognition dinner as we reflect on our past year’s accomplishments as a Club and celebrate President Frank’s dedication to service. Your presence will make the evening all the more meaningful.
