The Blood Drive occurs once a year, usually in February, and attracts dozens of Rotarians to give blood. The timeframe is usually a four-hour period from noon until 4:00 p.m.
It is conducted at the Elks Club meeting room, where the Rotary Club has its weekly lunch meetings. Recently, the Rotary Club of San Francisco helped purchase a van for the Blood Centers of the Pacific.

The chair of the Committee, Mike Alexander, is currently COO/Administrator for Kaiser Permanente’s hospital in San Francisco. “I like giving service back to the community,” says Mike, who has been with Kaiser for 34 years, for the majority of that time in Colorado. “The Rotary Club of San Francisco has a legacy of such service, and I especially like the international programs: bringing students here from abroad and sending students from the U.S. to other countries. I like the educational resources the Rotary provides.”
